Peerless purification

When it comes to the purification of graphite, we are leading the way in Europe! AMG Graphite has developed both a chemical and a chemical/thermal process for the purification of natural graphite at its Kropfmühl site – and in doing so invented a method that can also influence the composition of the residual minerals in high-purity graphite. For example, if graphite has a purity of 99.5 percent carbon, 0.5 percent is still made up of other minerals, such as sulphur and iron. However, our purification methods mean that we can also significantly influence the ash content that is so vital for some of our customers. After the purification process, the chemicals used for this purpose are neutralized and stored in AMG Graphite’s treatment ponds – an important and specialised process that is regularly monitored by the water management authorities.
